Miami Dolphins training camp offensive power rankings

2. Mike Gesicki
Gesicki has improved every single season he has been in the NFL, both in terms of production and in becoming a better professional player. In a contract year, we might get the best version of Gesicki we have seen yet.
It is unlikely that the former Penn State tight end will lead the team in targets, receptions, or receiving yards, but his connection with Tagovailoa from last season shows he will have a great chance to lead the team in receiving touchdowns. At 6-foot-6, 250-pounds, Gesicki is a major red-zone target and his six touchdowns from last season should go up in 2021.
With the Dolphins drafting Boston College’s tight end Hunter Long in the third round, it could be a sign that the team will be willing to let Gesicki walk in free agency next season. Gesicki will want to have a big season regardless if he wants to sign a major deal elsewhere if the team chooses to let him walk.
Outside of Parker and Preston Williams, the Dolphins will need to rely heavily upon Gesicki and a big-bodied weapon and security blanket for Tagovailoa. Gesicki should also be expected to take the next step as a blocker in his fourth season.
