Miami Dolphins: 5 Running Backs that could be cut and Miami should sign
By Jeremy Klump
Houston Texans RB Mark Ingram III
This one may surprise many people, but it is the NFL, so you never know. This would certainly fit the “surprise” cut narrative, mainly because Ingram is currently penciled in as one of Houston’s starting running backs.
However, again, it is the NFL. The Houston Texans have a loaded running back room, so they will likely need to cut a solid running back. The reason I could see Ingram being the odd man out is because of his age and contract.
Houston could save a little over $1.8 million by cutting the former Heisman Trophy winner. Ingram also just turned 31, so Houston may want to go with their other younger options. They are not winning anytime soon, so saving some money and seeing what they have in their other options may intrigue them.
The Texans also have David Johnson, Rex Burkhead, and Phillip Lindsay, which would soften the blow. If any of those running backs were cut as well, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Miami try and sign them.
I think Ingram would be a solid, cheap option, and he would be able to carry the load on first and second down. He would be a great piece to the Dolphins running back room, and if he is cut, Miami should 100% sign him.
