The Miami Dolphins’ toughest decisions are going to come at tight end, WR, and along the offensive line.

Tight End: The Dolphins have a very good TE unit and Hunter Long is looking pretty good so far. Miami shouldn’t have to make any big moves at the position but that doesn’t mean a surprise won’t happen. I just don’t think that it will.

  1. Mike Gesicki
  2. Hunter Long
  3. Adam Shaheen
  4. Durham Smythe

Out: Carter should have been able to make it onto the roster but he hasn’t been overly impressive or stood out above Smythe who I believe has done enough. Adam Shaheen could be an odd man out given his “vaccination” opinions that may be considered a risk but he should make the team.

  • Chris Myarick
  • Cethan Carter

Offensive line: It is hard to predict a unit that has played poorly at times this year but when you really start digging you see some players have potential and others do not. Miami has to know this by now and because of that, the cuts shouldn’t be as hard as they might have been.

UPDATE: The Dolphins traded for center Greg Mancz, formerly with the Baltimore Ravens.

  1. Michael Dieter
  2. Robert Hunt
  3. Solomon Kindley
  4. Austin Jackson
  5. Liam Eichenberg
  6. Jesse Davis
  7. Greg Little
  8. Larnel Coleman
  9. Greg Mancz

Out

  • Matt Skura
  • Adam Pankey
  • Cameron Tom
  • Durval Queiroz Neto
  • Robert Jones – practice squad

The four players that I see has the hardest to predict are Skura, Tom, Robert Jones, and Adam Pankey. It will be interesting to see who is not on the team come next Wednesday.

Wide Receivers:

Once the deepest unit on the roster, injuries have derailed the unit for much of training camp but nothing is serious and the Dolphins have a lot of options to keep them on the roster. Miami has already released Isaiah Ford and Robert Foster while putting Allen Hurns and Lynn Bowden, Jr., on IR.

  1. DeVante Parker
  2. Jakeem Grant
  3. Mack Hollins
  4. Jaylen Waddle
  5. Albert Wilson
  6. Preston Williams
  7. Kirk Merritt

Will Fuller will not count on the Dolphins roster until after week one due to his suspension.

I think on September 2nd, the Dolphins will put Williams on the short-term IR designated to return and add a defensive player.

Out

  • Kai Locksley
  • Khalil McClain

Special Teams

There is no intrigue here as no one is left on the roster to challenge the Dolphins specialists.

  1. P – Michael Palardy
  2. K – Jason Sanders
  3. LS – Blake Ferguson

Our totals for the offensive side of the ball and special teams brings our final roster to 29 thus leaving 24 positions available for the defensive side of the ball. That being said, after Williams is moved to IR, the Dolphins will add someone to this side of the ball for week one.
