The Miami Dolphins defense could be one of the best units in the NFL. The return of Xavien Howard is a big win for the Dolphins who avoided making a bad situation worse. Howard will anchor the secondary but the meat of this defense may very well be upfront where camp has been impressive for a few players.

Defensive line

Miami is hoping that their defensive ends will make a big difference this year and get pressure on the QBs while their defensive interior improves on upfield pressure and run-stopping.

  1. Christian Wilkins
  2. Raekwon Davis
  3. John Jenkins
  4. Zach Sieler
  5. Emmanuel Ogbah
  6. Adam Butler – 2nd guessing this one. Strowbridge may be the better option here.

Out

  • Jason Strowbridge
  • Jonathan Ledbetter
  • Tyshun Render
  • Benito Jones

Linebackers

The Dolphins love their linebacker unit and they should. There is a lot of talent and potential talent here but it is going to make for tough decisions come Tuesday as the Dolphins may only have room for seven on the roster.

  1. Jerome Baker
  2. Sam Eguavoen
  3. Bernardrick McKinney
  4. Jaelan Phillips
  5. Andrew Van Ginkel
  6. Elandon Roberts
  7. Duke Riley
  8. Brennan Scarlett

OUT

I think Biegel is going to be a close call. His injury last season didn’t help him this camp and he hasn’t returned to the player he showed signs of becoming. I’m not sure the Dolphins are ready to give up on him just yet and Duke Riley could be on this list with Biegel on the other. I wouldn’t rule out Munson making the team either but I’m not sure where he will fit.

  • Vince Biegel
  • Calvin Munson
  • Josh Harvey Clemons
  • Kylan Johnson
  • Shaquem Griffin
