Round 3 (via SF): Isaiah Thomas, EDGE, Oklahoma

Outside of offensive tackle, Miami’s other position of need heading into the 2022 NFL draft will likely be edge defenders, mainly on the defensive line too. Miami did draft Jaelan Phillips in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but they need an edge defender on the defensive line too.

That is why they need to make sure they can secure a starter in the first three rounds of the draft, and they do that here by getting Oklahoma defensive lineman Isaiah Thomas.

The former four-star recruit had seven and a half sacks and 12 tackles for a loss last season for the Sooners. In week 1 of the 2021 season, Thomas had another sack and a forced fumble. He looked solid for Oklahoma, and he has a future in the NFL if he can keep making plays as he did on Saturday.

Miami loves to have a solid defensive line with depth, and adding Thomas to that group would be awesome. After trading Shaq Lawson away, Miami has not really filled his hole yet. By adding Thomas, Miami can get a player they can trust to play solid, meaningful snaps for them for years to come.
