The pass-rush key to the game sort of goes into linebacker discipline. We know the Patriots are going to come out and run the ball. Even if they try and get a little coy and have Jones come out throwing, we all know that keeping the ball on the ground is how this Patriot’s team is constructed. They have a pretty good offensive line and not a lot of quality outside skill players. Ground and pound will be their motto.

The linebacker discipline is going to come in if the Patriots have early success running the ball. The linebackers have to know that play-action is coming. I know that it’s much easier for me to say that in the confide of my home outside Scranton PA two days before the game starts. but I still think it’s important to say. The linebackers can’t get sucked inside while the talented TEs of New England get behind them making the throws easy for Jones to complete. Read your keys, play your gap, and trust your teammates upfront. A tall order for a very unheralded unit, but still something that has to happen.
