Miami Dolphins: 5 college players to watch for the 2022 draft
By Pablo Rosero
Defensive Tackle: Jordan Davis (Georgia)
The Dolphins took a major blow in week one when former Alabama defensive tackle Raekwon Davis was put on IR with a knee injury. While Davis will likely come back during the season, but with him, on IR it makes defensive tackle a position of need.
In his place, the Dolphins will likely sign a veteran free agent along with John Jenkins and Zach Sieler. Christian Wilkins will likely also see an increase in his snaps for at least the next three weeks.
Pairing Wilkins with a player who can cover multiple gaps and power through one-on-ones is important. In College football, there aren’t many other interior tackles better at powering through offensive linemen like Georgia’s Jordan Davis.
At 6-foot-6 330-pounds, Davis is a mammoth of a man that has been one of the best players on Georgia’s stout defense. Davis would likely move into a nose tackle role in the NFL due to his massive frame, but he sees most of his snaps lined up in the B-gap.
Defensive tackle likely will be a position the Dolphins add depth too late in the draft, but Davis’ size and power would make him an optimal fit alongside Wilkins and a great piece with Raekwon Davis.
