Tua Tagovailoa played great in week one against the Patriots without his starting left tackle Austin Jackson and an offensive line that feels like it has not had any consistency throughout camp or the preseason. His lone interception was a forced ball that was bobbled and almost cost the Dolphins the game. Had the Dolphins lost the game, it would’ve been on that play, but once again the defense bailed the team out.

Tagovailoa played smart, efficient, and physical on the ground when he needed to. His rushing touchdown opened up the scoring on the day, while his passing touchdown to his former Alabama teammate Jaylen Waddle gave the team the lead for the remainder of the game.

The second-year quarterback seemed to be comfortable in the pocket when he had the opportunities and continually looked downfield. His growth will be what defines the Dolphins season and if he can play as efficiently and smart as he did in week one, the Dolphins could surprise many this year.

Week 2 presents a challenge for the Dolphins, who play the Bills for the first time since they crushed them in week 17 of the 2020 season. Tagovailoa will need to prove he has grown as a player since he threw multiple interceptions in that massive loss that kept the team out of the playoffs.
