Quarterback Power Rankings Week 2: Where does Tua Tagovailoa rank?
By Jeremy Klump
16. Ryan Tannehill
Tannehill struggled in Week 1, but he bounced back nicely in Week 2. Tannehill did not throw for a touchdown in Week 2, but he did throw for 347 yards and helped his team come back to beat the Seattle Seahawks.
15. Josh Allen
My 2021 MVP pick has not looked like the 2021 MVP so far this season. Josh Allen did not play his best football on Sunday, but luckily he was playing an inferior opponent in the Miami Dolphins. Allen only had 179 yards passing, but he did throw two touchdowns in a 35-0 victory.
14. Sam Darnold
It has been fun to watch former New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold play for the Carolina Panthers. It is clear the Jets were holding him back, as Darnold moved to 2-0, throwing for 305 yards and two touchdowns. Darnold seems to have found the perfect spot for him to succeed, and the Panthers can be a good football team with him at quarterback.
13. Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins always gets trashed on social media, but the guy is a good NFL quarterback. He may have lost the game on Sunday, but Cousins threw for three touchdowns and played good football.
12. Jared Goff
It has been a pleasant surprise to see former No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff play well for the Detroit Lions. The Rams shipped him off like he did not take them to a Super Bowl, but Goff looks energized and has been slinging the rock. The Lions are going to lose a lot of football games this year, but Goff is putting up solid numbers and looks solid in the Lions’ offense with limited weapons.
11. Baker Mayfield
Another former No. 1 overall pick that is playing well is Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. His stats will not jump off the screen for you, but he played with a lot of GRIT on Sunday. He injured his shoulder but hung in there and led his team to a victory. The Browns will go as far as Mayfield takes them, so if they win a game, it will likely be because Mayfield played solid.
