3. Miami’s defense will keep them in games all year

The final score does not represent just how good the Miami Dolphins defense was again on Sunday. Yes, they still have their issues of stopping the run, but I think that has more to do with the fact the offense can’t sustain a drive, so it puts the defense in a tough spot being on the field for way too long.

That is how a lot of teams impose their will on other teams and run the ball down their throat. Miami got tired and started giving up chunk plays at the end of the game, but if the offense could have done more earlier in the game, the defense could have been fresh.

Regardless, Las Vegas ended with 31 points (6 points in overtime).

The Dolphins defense had a pick-six to start the game, and they were flying around the field the entire first quarter. If Miami’s offense could have taken advantage of their elite play, Miami could have taken a big lead.

Derek Carr is playing at an MVP level, and he showcased that in overtime, but do not forget that Las Vegas started with the ball first. They were only able to get a field goal on their first drive of overtime, and the defense gave Miami yet another chance to win the game, and they couldn’t.

This defense is really, really good, and they will always give Miami a chance to win any game this season.
