Quarterback Power Rankings Week 4: Kyler Murray is awesome
By Jeremy Klump
10. Derek Carr
The Derek Carr for MVP chants quieted down a little bit in Week 4, as Carr had his first game of the season that did not make you go wow. He failed to throw for 200 yards in the game, but he did throw for two touchdowns. It looked like Carr would lead his team back in the fourth quarter, but Carr threw an interception to cement that the Raiders were not going to make a comeback.
9. Josh Allen
After a dominant Week 3, Josh Allen followed that up with 248 yards and two touchdowns. The Bills were playing the Texans, so I did expect more from Allen, but he played well enough against a bad team to not move up or down. Allen still has yet to take that big step I expected him to take to be a top-five quarterback every week.
8. Joe Burrow
It has been fun to watch Joe Burrow silence some critics this season. Burrow, who is back from a torn ACL last season, was knocked all offseason for his bad offensive line. People felt Burrow would not survive back there, but he has been surviving and thriving. Burrow threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns on Thursday Night Football to move his Bengals to an impressive 3-1 start.
7. Tom Brady
Tom Brady falls out of the top five for the first time all season. It really isn’t about how he played, more about how well others played instead. Brady did not do badly, but he was not great. You could tell his return to New England was a lot for him, even more than the Super Bowls he has played in. Brady did win a close game in the rain, so he doesn’t fall too far in the rankings.
6. Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford’s MVP run took a little hit on Sunday. The Arizona Cardinals decided to double Cooper Kupp all game, and it really impacted the way Stafford played the game. His most reliable target was not open as much, but he still threw for 280 yards and two scores.
