3. Miami trades a 2022 4th round pick to the Detroit Lions for edge defender Trey Flowers

I have written about Miami trading for Trey Flowers before, but it obviously did not happen. However, never give up on your dreams, kids! Well, this isn’t really a dream, but I do think it would help the Miami Dolphins.

Before we really dive into this, Miami should not send anything higher than a fourth-round pick. I am sure Miami would restructure Flowers’ contract, but even still, he is making way too much money for a player who is not elite. Flowers is good, but his contract should drive the price down for any potential trade.

The Lions are definitely a team to watch as sellers at the trade deadline, as they have made it clear they are rebuilding. Flowers’ big contract, inability to stay healthy, and lack of production would make him a solid target for the Dolphins to get on a buy-low deal.

Flowers thrived playing in New England, which ultimately earned him his huge deal in Detroit. He would be a great scheme fit in Miami and would give them another player they can have to rush the passer.
