Round 3: Jeffrey Gunter, Edge, Coastal Carolina

The Miami Dolphins drafted Jaelan Phillips with the 18th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Phillips has not been elite yet, but he has shown flashes of how good he can be. He is still about a year or so out of really finding his groove, but I think he will be able to. Miami wasted a ton of time lining him up in pass coverage, and they need to more focus on him just rushing the passer.

Regardless, Miami needs more pass rushers and edge defenders. I would not be surprised to see them add one in free agency as well, but the Dolphins need to generate more pressure on the quarterback, so taking Coastal Carolina’s Jeffrey Gunter makes a ton of sense.

Emmanuel Ogbah needs to be re-signed, too, and then having Phillips, Ogbah, and Gunter would be solid.

Gunter has a high ceiling that is just waiting for the right coach to see how high that truly is. He can play all over and uses his athletic ability to make plays. Miami will like his versatility, and he is a perfect fit in Brian Flores’ defense.

Miami fans would love his motor.
