It is hard to find good defensive ends and the Miami Dolphins should know that. While they wait for Jaelan Phillips to develop and show the signs on the field that are more than just every now and then, Emmanuel Ogbah is a guy that should be anchoring one of the side of the defensive line for years to come.

Ogbah showed he was good last year but he is playing with a good level of consistency this  year. Of course, the Dolphins opted to not give him a new deal last year and it is not known if they plan to do so this year. Ogbah will be a free agent after the season.

During this past offseason, Ogbah could have tried to force the Dolphins hand by holding out or asking for a trade in order to get an extension but he did no such thing. He is a team player and has shown he can be a leader since arriving. Now, the ball is in Miami’s court but they should absolutely be looking at Ogbah as a guy they can build around and mentor Phillips as well.

What the Dolphins do after the season is anyone’s guess but given the fact they have tried and have been unsuccessful in finding Cameron Wakes replacement, Ogbah is someone that they should be targeting for the future.
