Mike Gesicki is playing like the best player on the team and that is because right now, he is the best player. He is a play maker without a contract and this off season will be contentious as it relates to the fans.
Gesicki has grown into a fan favorite and last Sunday against the Texans, a small growing chant started in the stands “Pay that Man! Pay that Man!” maybe if the entire stadium begins to chant it Chris Grier will hear it.
Gesicki is one of the leaders on the offense statistically. He has 44 receptions, 12 less than Waddle. He has 529 yards which is 33 yards more than Waddle. He has one less touchdown than Waddle as well. He is averaging 12 yards per reception which is 1.1 yards lower than DeVante Parker who is further down the rankings in other areas.
What Gesicki has is great hands. He is consistently catching passes that are badly thrown and can bring down the ball with one-handed grabs like he was catching it with both. Imagine if he was a priority for the first three quarters of play?
The Dolphins need to do a better job of getting him involved earlier in the game and as often as possible. He is a player that can easily force defenses to double him and thus freeing another player on the field.
