Brian Daboll spent time with the Dolphins as an offensive coordinator. He coached the offense during one of the worst times in Dolphins history. The Tony Sparano/Jeff Ireland/ issue and left after the season when Todd Bowles wasn’t retained.

Daboll has been getting his name mentioned as a head coaching candidate given the success he has enjoyed running the Bills offense. Of course with Josh Allen, a very good offensive line, and the trade that brought Stefon Diggs to the Bills, he should be running a good offense.

Daboll is intriguing but only to a point. While some would love to have him or Carolina Panther OC Joe Brady, the Dolphins really should concentrate more on guys with coaching experience.

Bruce Arians has done a magnificent job in Tampa Bay with a stacked and loaded roster. The Dolphins don’t have that kind of roster right now but it wouldn’t be too hard to build if the right HC was in charge of actually coaching.

Where Arians wins is the fact he can hire valued coaching assistants. Like Brian Flores, I’m not sure that a guy like Daboll or Brady could bring the level of coaching that the Dolphins would need. Still, Daboll will be a top name mentioned given the success in Buffalo. Personally, I would pass.
