Dennis Allen is a name few Miami Dolphins fans want hear but he has head coaching experience, is well respected in the NFL circles, and was so strapped during his time as the HC in Oakland that no one would have succeeded.

Allen was handed one of the worst teams in the NFL and wasn’t given much help to build the team from the bottom up. He had three years in Oakland and managed to win only eight games. He was fired after an 0-4 start with his final loss coming at the hands of the Dolphins in London.

Since his stint with the Raiders, Allen has spent the last seven years with the Saints as the defensive coordinator. The Saints have been strapped for cash for several years and most of the talent is on the offensive side of the ball. Still, he has done a pretty good job with what he has had to work with.

Allen is considered to be a top candidate to return to the top job and this off-season could be his best chance. Of course, those three years are not going away any time soon. If you think the Dolphins drafts were bad then take a look at the Raiders drafts from 2012 to 2014, the three years Allen was the head coach.

While they did much better with Khalil Mack, Derek Carr, and a few others in 2014, 2013 produced only three players that are still in the NFL today, D.J. Hayden, Latavius Murray, and Stacy McGee. Only three are still around from the year before and none of them are playing this year.
