George Karlaftis – EDGE – Purdue

Depending on which mock draft or prospect rankings list you look it, Purdue pass rusher George Karlaftis from Purdue could be selected anywhere between the top five and top twenty, but he may not make it past the Dolphins if he continues to impress.

If Miami is going to be looking for someone with a physical build and style that differs a bit more from that of Jaelan Phillips, then Karlaftis could be their guy. He is a big boy, standing at six feet four inches tall, and weighing in around 275 pounds. His size is one of his most impressive traits, as he uses that large upper body to display his incredible strength in moving around offensive lineman and potential blockers.

Because of his size, however, his mobility and flexibility could become an issue at the next level. The modern NFL edge rusher is trending more towards athleticism than pure power, and this could ultimately hurt Karlaftis’ draft stock. This is something that could end up helping the Dolphins should their pick end up in the 8-12 range.

Purdue will take on Northwestern on Saturday morning at noon Eastern.
