Mike Gesicki

Despite being targeted 7 times in last week’s game against the Ravens, Mike Gesicki was held to zero catches. It was the first time that he was shut out since Week 1, and only the second time since Week 6 of 2020. He has become such an important part of the offense that winning a game in which he didn’t record a catch is borderline impressive.

For Gesicki, the entire 2021 season is a “Prove It” campaign. He is in the final year of his contract and will be looking for big money during the off season, and he has been making a strong case for the Dolphins to re-sign him. He has been reliable, dropping just one pass in 44 total targets, and has been one of the few bright spots anywhere on the field for Miami this year.

Tua Tagovailoa and the offense will need him on Sunday. While it is true that the Jets rank in the bottom five in two of the most significant pass defense statistical categories, the Dolphins will need all the reliable hands they can get. Tua’s healthy weapons for this Sunday include Isaiah Ford, Mack Hollins, Preston Williams, and Albert Wilson. Look for Miami to lean heavily on both Gesicki and Jaylen Waddle.
