Christian Wilkins is becoming a big leader on the field. He is growing as a football player and his personality is one that the fans have fallen in love with. He has one more year on his rookie contract and will likely see his 5th year option picked up.

Wilkins is making $4.2 million this year and that is a steal for what he is producing. He is becoming a reliable run stopping defensive tackle and is finding more ways to get into the pocket to create problems for quarterbacks. The best part is? He still has a ceiling he hasn’t reached.

The Dolphins, finally, are getting solid production out of their players that are still on their rookie deals and that is something that we haven’t seen in a long time. Now, they will have to pay up to keep them. I’m not certain that Grier sees the need. There is a new focus in Miami and we have to look at New England and how they value players coming off rookie deals. The good news is that Wilkins is a defensive player and that whole “Patriot Way” garbage that is spewed around the NFL seems to put a priority on defensive players.
