One of my favorite stories in the NFL draft is San Diego State punter Matt Araiza. The punter and kicker for the Aztecs have shown his versatility and could be an intriguing draft pick.

With current punter Michal Palardy in the final year of his deal, the Dolphins could save a considerable amount by letting him walk and drafting someone like Araiza.

On the season, Araiza’s kicking numbers leave a lot to be desired but Jason Sanders will continue his role as the kicker for the Dolphins barring a complete meltdown to end the season. However, he would be solid to have as a backup kicking option if Sanders were to ever get hurt.

Regardless, the reason the Dolphins would be drafting Araiza is his punting numbers. On the season Araiza is flipping the field on everyone with a whopping 51.5 average per kick, a number that’ll go up once he gets to the NFL.

His long of 86 yards was on everyone’s social media feeds and showed the true meaning of flipping the field.

Nothing helps coaching and defenses when a kicker is able to pin the opposing offenses. The Dolphins should take a long look at Araiza if they choose to let their current punter walk and save money.
