NFL round one mock draft: Miami Dolphins go offensive line
By Pablo Rosero
The Giants are back on the board now using the Chicago Bears’ pick. The Giants acquired this pick after moving back in the 2021 draft with the Chicago Bears who would use the 11th overall pick in the draft to select Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.
With Fields now starting for the Bears and likely the franchise quarterback, the team probably isn’t extremely torn up about losing the pick but should hope to win more in the future. The Bears lack talent on the offensive side of the ball and could have used the pick, but a franchise quarterback triumphs all in the end.
For the Giants, it is clear the Gettleman loves building the trenches. Taking Ekwonu is a great start for the team and the offense, now the team takes the third-best EDGE rusher in the draft in Purdue’s George Karlaftis.
The Giants defense already has Leonard Williams, Dexter Lawrence, Quincy Roche, Jabrill Peppers, and James Bradberry. Adding Karlaftis to the mix would give them, an additional pass rusher that can get after Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts.
The Giant’s biggest issues are clearly on offense, but Gettleman is used to taking the top player on the board and that is Karlaftis.
