Round 4: Brandon Smith, LB, PSU

I think Brandon Smith will be a fascinating evaluation for the NFL. For me, I love the player, and I hate the player.

What I mean by that is, there is so much meat on the bone when you watch him play. On the one hand, he blows up a play and looks elite. On the next play, he gets driven back 10 yards and pancaked by an offensive lineman. Smith’s play is so inconsistent that it makes it hard for me to trust him early than the 4th round.

However, his highlight plus are highlights. So I could see someone fall in love with him and take him earlier, but this is where I feel best taking him.

I will add, though, that if Flores wants him and Miami takes him earlier than this, you should be excited. Why?

I think Smith is the perfect fit for the Dolphins defense, and Flores is the perfect coach to get the most out of him. Smith has sky-high potential, and I would love to see him reach that in Miami.
