Tua Tagovailoa may or may not be back in 2022 but the next head coach will have input in that decision.

Whoever takes over the job in Miami will have a decision to make about Tua Tagovailoa. He may view him as a long term, franchise quarterback or he may say he wants someone else. Stephen Ross has already said the quarterback situation will be determined by the next head coach and Deshaun Watson is not 100% out of the equation.

If the next guy opts to keep Tua for one more year to truly evaluate him from the inside out, Miami will be in a good position the next year to move up to draft a top prospect if they don’t get one in free agency.

Tua isn’t a bad quarterback and while many fans have jumped off that wagon train, we simply don’t know, if we are 100% honest with ourselves if Tua’s issues are fixable or not. He was not given any help in Miami. Consider he had the worst offensive line in the NFL, had a wide receiver group that was basically backups for much of the season. And of course, no running game.

That being said, there were a lot of times that Tua didn’t do himself any favors. Of all the teams with HC vacancies, only the Bears and Jaguars are 100% set and in Miami, that HC will still have say in Tua’s future.
