Miami Dolphins: Running back trade options to consider this offseason
By Pablo Rosero
Kansas City Chiefs Darrel Williams is the player on this list with the least amount of touches in his career despite being in the NFL longer than Mattison and the next player on this list. However, Williams impressed in 2021 enough to make it on this list.
Similar to Mattison, Williams’ usage is low enough where the team does not have to worry about wear and tear. After multiple injures to starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Williams was put in the position to start seven games in 2021. Those were the first starts of his career and Williams did not disappoint.
In those seven starts, Mattison had over 50 scrimmage yards in each game and even had one game with over 100 receiving yards. He also had two games with at least two total touchdowns.
Williams, who has been a part of the Chiefs’ last two Super Bowl teams, finally has the experience one would want in a starting back.
Williams could likely bring the lowest price of all the other backs on this list, not just in trade capital but also in a future deal. Williams might not be the same explosive back as some of the other players on this list, but he should bring a solid high ceiling that can be paired with a young rookie.
