Revisiting the Miami Dolphins 2021 NFL Draft class
By Pablo Rosero
Neither Larnel Coleman or Gerrid Doaks played a major impact for the Miami Dolphins 2021 season
The Dolphins made the decision to address two of their roster issues late in the draft and both picks did not make much of an impact for the team in 2021.
UMass offensive tackle Larnel Coleman did not take the field in 2021 after a knee injury in late August. Coleman was not expected to see many snaps but was considered a development prospect due to his massive 6-foot-6 frame.
The Dolphins need as much offensive line help as they can get in 2022, but don’t expect Coleman to be more than a depth piece for the Phins.
The Dolphins running game was catastrophic in 2021 as the team did not have a 100-yard rusher until Duke Johnson was signed onto the roster in week 15. He repeated the performance for the team’s second time having a 100-yard rusher when the Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots in week 18.
Doaks was essentially never given an opportunity outside of the practice squad and saw the team sign players like Johnson and Phillip Lindsey. Unless Doaks makes a massive improvement, there is no certainty that he will be on the roster next season.
