Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates II

One of the best yet most underrated safeties in the league plays for Cincy and it is possible that he could be on the move this offseason. Jesse Bates II has been Cincinnati’s best defensive player and their best secondary piece.

The Bengal’s defense has improved mightily this season after the addition of Trey Hendrickson, Larry Ogunjobi, Mike Hilton, and the improvement of Sam Hubbard, Logan Wilson, and more. Bates has been the defense staples since he was drafted and could be set to hit free agency for the first time in his career, could Miami target him?

The team currently has a very high upside safety tandem in Brandon Jones and Jevon Holland along with Eric Rowe, who could have played his last game with the team. If the team does choose to move on from Rowe, then Bates would make sense.

The Dolphins use Holland in multiple different roles and play a good amount of three safety defenses. Bates, Jones, and Holland could each rotate among multiple different spots on the defense.

Bates will likely be franchised tagged by the Bengals, but if he’s not he will garner a ton of attention in free agency around the league.
