Scouting Report. Iowa. 58. Pick Analysis. RG. BrandonScherff. 75. player

After back-to-back seasons of being franchise-tagged by the Washington Football Team, Brandon Scherff is likely to finally hit free agency for the first time in his career. If, or rather when, the multiple-time Pro Bowler hits the market he’ll garner massive attention and should land a major contract.

The Miami Dolphins must pounce on that opportunity immediately. The team has struggled to have consistency along the offensive line, although Robert Hunt might be the team’s best current offensive lineman at right guard, Scherff is a clear upgrade.

In 2021, Scherff dealt with an injury-plagued season that cut his year short. But in his 697 snaps, Scherff did not allow a single sack and was only called for six penalties.

The Dolphins will need a complete retooling at the offensive line and signing the top guard in free agency will give them a ton of leverage. With this signing, the team could even move Hunt back to the right tackle slot, a position where he showed promise during his rookie season.

Scherff will likely be the highest-paid free agent offensive tackle that he would have been in years prior, but he should end up as one of the league’s highest-paid guards.
