San Fransisco 49ers head coach Mike McDaniel

Mike McDaniel is one of the two rumored finalists for the Miami Dolphins head coaching job. The San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator has helped lead his team to the NFC championship in his first season in the position.

McDaniel’s is a shocking name to have made it this far due to his inexperience as a coordinator but he has helped make the 49ers team successful enough to overcome injures to multiple key players and his starting quarterback. He also helped turned Deebo into one of the best weapons in the entire league.

The 49ers offense under McDaniels, and of course head coach Kyle Shanahan, focused primarily on its running game and short passing game. This style of offense helped both Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance win games. In addition to a solid defense, the offense was able to do just enough to excel.

McDaniel’s lack of experience might hurt and he doesn’t exactly call plays every game, but he is one of the bright young minds that is taking over the league. Not only has he essentially followed Shanahn around the league, but he has also coached alongside Sean McVay and Matt LaFluer.

McDaniels would be a shocking hire that brings more question marks than answers, but it would be a positive for Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense, assuming they address the offensive line and run game.
