5 free agents the Miami Dolphins should take a long look at
By Matt Serniak
This guy came out of nowhere. Signed a one-year $2M dollar contract with the Packers after a so-so year with the Cardinals and man alive did this guy go nuts.
If you said De”Vondre Campbell had the opposite year as Bednarick McKinney had, you would be correct in saying that.
This guy was all over the field making plays every game. I fondly remember when Campbell had a game-sealing INT of Joe Burrow in an overtime game this year. He would be an excellent addition to a Dolphin’s linebacking core that is one of the weaker ones on the team.
The Dolphins currently have Jerome Baker, who had a solid year, Elandon Roberts, Vince Biegel, Sam Eguaveon, and Duke Riley. Outside of Baker, I wouldn’t be surprised if half of these guys aren’t brought back. This means the middle of the defense needs someone in there. Someone like De’Vondre Campbell would be a perfect candidate to fill that need.
I like Campbell’s versatility. I think he can drop back into coverage when asked to. No linebackers are elite at trying to guard running backs and the types of freak tight ends that are out there. To me, Campbell is solid at doing that and that’s all I’m looking for in linebackers in coverage.
I have this feeling that Green Bay isn’t going to let Campbell walk. But hey, at least see if you can persuade him to leave fun Green Bay for South Beach.
