New Orleans Saints trade up to 15 to select Mississippi State OT Charles Cross

Scouting Report. OT. CharlesCross. 15. player. Pick Analysis. Mississippi State. 15

The New Orleans Saints find themselves in extremely unknown territory heading into the 2022 NFL  season following the “retirement” of head coach Sean Payton. After over a decade with Payton and quarterback Drew Brees at the helm, the team now finds themselves being led by former defensive coordinator Dennis Allen and a massive question mark at the quarterback position.

The team could go with Taysom Hill or attempt to resign Jamis Winston, but they’ll have other issues. The team has one of the worst cap situations in the entire league and sees its starting left tackle, Terron Armstead, hitting the open market.

While Armstead, who should be a target for the Miami Dolphins, is likely to leave in free agency, the team could still address the position. While they actually pick at 18, they’ll likely need to move up to snatch Mississippi State left tackle Charles Cross.

Cross would come in and start for the team immediately as their replacement for Armstead. They’ll need to answer the quarterback position, but they have a lot more to worry about as well at the moment. The Saints are not in a good place and could have a very tough year in 2022.
