Eagles take Utah LB Devin Lloyd 18th with their second first rounder

Scouting Report. Utah. DevinLloyd. 18. 54. Pick Analysis. LB. player

Back on the clock, the Philadelphia Eagles are picking after trading back with the New Orleans Saints and taking Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson 16th overall. Now the team focuses on the other side of the ball.

After being manhandled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round, the Eagles will need to focus on adding some extra talent along the defensive side of the ball. Adding Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd would be a solid addition to a group featuring defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, cornerback Darius Slay, and EDGE rusher Derrick Barnett.

Lloyd is a dynamic and athletic linebacker who can play sideline to sideline and has the ability to cover. He was a tackling machine in his senior season against 11 tackles for the Utes.

Lloyd should be able to play any linebacker spot for the Eagles and give them support in the run game. In their division, they’ll face off against Dallas running backs  Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard, New York Giant’s Saquon Barkley, and Washington Commander’s Antonio Gibson twice a year.

Having Lloyd gives the Eagles a player they can depend on and rack up tackles. Lloyd, along with the next player drafted by the Eagles, will help improve their defense heading into 2022.
