Miami Dolphins fill need in post Super Bowl first round mock

Houston Texans select LSU CB Derek Stingley Jr third overall
The Houston Texans are heading into the 2022 season with yet another new head coach, this time it’s their former defensive coordinator Lovie Smith. Smith was the head coach that last took the Chicago Bears to a Super Bowl with a top-notch defense and special teams. He’ll likely try to replicate that formula in Houston.
The Texans have pieces in place already on offense with quarterback Davis Mills, wide receiver Brandin Cooks, tight end Brevin Jordan. The team also has former Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Larmey Tunsil, a player that may have hurt them more than helped them to this point with the capital needed to deal for him. They also have quarterback Deshaun Watson still on the roster, but it is likely that they’ll need to deal him in order to get anything useful from him at this point.
Taking Derek Stingley Jr. will immediately improve their secondary. The LSU corner has been a consistent playmaker and lockdown corner since he first walked on campus in 2019.
The Texans are in a solid position if they can move Watson and hope Mills continues to develop. Stingley will help improve that defense and give Smith a corner that should contribute immediately.
