Carolina Panthers make Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett first QB off the board at six
There have been rumors swirling that the Carolina Panthers could target Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett with the sixth pick in the draft. The Panthers had gone through three quarterbacks in 2021, Sam Darnold, Phillip Walker, and Cam Newton. Despite the impressive offensive arsenal and the explosive young defense, the Panthers were held back by their quarterbacks.
That doesn’t mean that Pickett is the right choice to solve the team’s quarterback problem, rather it would be smarter to go elsewhere and see if Darnold really is a bust or not. If Darnold and the Panthers fail yet again, the team could move on from head coach Matt Rhule.
Hiring a new head coach and then drafting one of Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, or Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke might be the upgrade the team has been looking for.
Adding one of those three quarterbacks to a group featuring D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, Terrance Marshall, Christian McCaffrey, and Chubba Hubbard should make the team a lot more dynamic than it currently is. Pickett fits the current rumor, but may not be the best pick for the team. Although it is a likely upgrade for the Panthers and Rhule.
