Phillip Lindsay joined the Dolphins in the middle of the season. He played well when he was available and often outshined Myles Gaskin. There was a definite difference in the way Miami ran the ball when Lindsay was in the game. It was more physical and straight forward.

Lindsay only ran for 119 yards in four games but he didn’t start in any of those contests. He rushed 38 times and failed to reach the end zone.

That being said, he ran with conviction and should have been given more chances. Lindsay is not going to be an expensive hire and the Dolphins would be smart to bring him back on a one-year deal and then review a wider workload with the team.

Salvon Ahmed has provided depth for Myles Gaskin but he has not been consistent over the last few years and the Dolphins could do better within the unit. The Dolphins have four RBs ready to hit the market including Malcolm Brown who shouldn’t be back.

Duke Johnson will also play into these roster decisions as well. Johnson showed he could turn around his game and proved he could still start in the league. Behind a bad offensive line, Johnson was a bright spot.

Stay or go? Johnson and Lindsay should get one year extensions but Ahmed and Brown especially should be allowed to leave. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gaskin released either.
