Mike Gesicki is this off-seasons biggest question mark. His future with the Dolphins is most assuredly in the air.

On one hand, the thought of Gesicki in the Mike McDaniel offensive system could be incredible but Gesicki is going to command a big salary that will be north of the $10 million annual mark. Miami has the money to keep Gesicki but will they is the question.

Gesicki is a stellar pass catching tight end but McDaniel tends to keep his TEs inline to help in the running game and that is not a strength of Gesicki. There has been a lot of change in opinion on whether or not Gesicki will or should remain with the Dolphins.

A reporter for ESPN recently speculated that Gesicki will leave via FA and I am starting to believe that to be what will inevitably happen. Gesicki likes playing for the Dolphins and wants to stay in Miami but it is becoming more and more likely that Gesicki’s career in Miami could be coming to an end. This one might just be McDaniel’s call.

Stay or go? At this point, your guess is as good as mine.

Durham Smythe is also an impending free agent but unlike Gesicki, Smythe is much better blocking along the line and could be a player that McDaniel could build and Jon Embree could develop more. Personally, I don’t see the Dolphins keeping both and I also don’t see them letting both of them leave.

Stay or go? I think Smythe will stay and should stay. A lot will depend on Gesicki.
