Yes, I’m fully aware that Ronald Jones ll is will be the least sought-after running back out of this group that I’ve laid out for you. That’s fine. He’ll be much cheaper than the others.

I like him. I think he’s a fantastic athlete that can do special things on the field. I think he’s fumbled too much and that’s why he was never thought of as the guy in Tampa and why Leonard Fournette was brought in. Once Brady decided Jones wasn’t it, that was a wrap. I think a change of scenery is exactly what this Ronal Jones ll needs.

He only had 428 yards on 101 carries last year. Nothing to write home about I know. Let’s focus on his previous two seasons. In 2019, Jones had 724 yards with a 4.2ypc. He got better in 2020 when he went for 978 yards with a 5.1YPC even when Fournette was brought in. Like everyone else, Jones is best when he has another running back to take some carries from him.

I also feel that he is more than a 3rd down, James White type of back. To me, I’ve seen Jones run with physicality between the tackles enough to warrant giving him inside handoffs. So the idea that he is only an outside finesse runner is an idea I don’t subscribe to. Again, feel free to completely disagree with me on that.

Jones is decent enough to catch the ball and he has that home run ability something that hasn’t been in the Dolphin’s backfield since Lamar Miller. He had a 98-yard run two seasons ago.

I think Jones is the perfect guy for McDaniel to revitalize and have to believe in him. McDaniel can figure out how to unlock his potential and I for one would love to see it happen.
