Lack of Options

Making JuJu Smith-Schuster one of their premiere free agent signings is certainly not Plan A for the Miami Dolphins. But given the way that the dominoes are falling around the league before free agency even begins, they may have to switch to Plan B (or even C) sooner rather than later.

Fans have been salivating over the big name receivers for a few months now. Unfortunately, they are already dropping like flies. Chris Godwin and Davante Adams have both been hit with the franchise tag by their respective teams, and possible trade target Calvin Ridley has been suspended for the entire upcoming season. That leaves just one big name free agent, Allen Robinson, who has received mixed reviews on whether Miami should be the one to pay him.

Look for the Dolphins to pursue Amari Cooper if he is released by the Cowboys, but the well may be running dry if Miami can’t nab him. That would leave them with having to choose from second and third tier options in free agency, and Smith-Schuster is a viable option in that range.
