Miami Dolphins trade down in post-combine mock NFL Draft
By Pablo Rosero
The Miami Dolphins will need to fill a hole at EDGE at this point. With Emmanuel Ogbah set to hit free agency and Jaelan Phillips the only impact EDGE on the roster, this should fall as the third biggest need heading into free agency and the NFL draft.
Amare Barno won’t be an immediate contributor, he could be though who knows, but the Virginia Tech EDGE helped his draft stock after measuring in at 6-foot-5, 246 pounds, with 34-inch arms and running a 4.36 40-yard dash, the fastest for a defensive lineman at the combine this year. Considering guys that big aren’t usually running that fast, it should create intrigue around Barno.
Speed at the position is important, but he would need to improve as a pass rusher to make an actual impact. Barno would be given time to develop before making an actual impact, but he could have a clear path towards playing time.
The Dolphins will likely bring back Ogbah or bring in a veteran EDGE such as Chandler Jones or Harold Landry to improve the defense, but adding an EDGE in the draft should be a priority. Barno helped himself at the combine and should be a name to watch.
