The Miami Dolphins avoided the need for another defensive end by signing Emmanuel Ogbah to a new contract minutes before free agency begins.

NFL free agency unofficially begins in a mere minutes, in fact, it will begin by the time you read this line. One need Miami will not have is at defensive end. Chris Grier gets a big win by re-signing his top defensive end and keeping continuity on defense.

Emmanuel Ogbah, slated to be a free agent and who recently reportedly wanted to test the market, has agreed to stay in Miami for the next four years.

While the numbers of the deal are being reported, we do not yet know how they break down from year to year. Traditionally, Grier has done a good job of getting contracts with team outs after a year or two.

Ogbah has been a stellar player for the Dolphins the last two seasons and a valuable asset on the field and in the locker room. He was able to help rookie Jaelan Phillips develop last year and there is no reason to believe that will not continue moving forward.

Miami now has their bookend defensive front back from last year and the defensive line should continue to get better where Raekwon Davis and Christian Wilkins continue to impress.

The three big impending free agents for the Dolphins, Nik Needham, Mike Gesicki, and Emmanuel Ogbah are now all back with Miami. Gesicki received the franchise tag and Needham has been tendered as a 2nd round free agent meaning if he signs elsewhere, the Dolphins would get a 2nd round pick in return. He is likely to return to Miami.

This is great news as the free agency period is now open with legal tampering ahead of the league new year start on Wednesday.
