For the Miami Dolphins, it all starts with the defensive side of the ball

The Dolphins have 46MM in cap space right now (which is 3rd overall). Trading X could open the door for them to clear even more space.  And then there is the obvious cuts that should be made soon (calling Chris Grier) that could even open up around 21MM extra cap space.  Where am I going with all of this, the Dolphins have the cash to be aggressive in free agency and should look to spend that money on the best pure cornerback in the market J.C Jackson.

Pairing Jackson with X would make the Miami Dolphins the best cornerback duo in the league.  But you can’t sign JC without X getting upset.  What I mean by that is, one of them will always think they deserve more.  We saw that with X and Bryon Jones.  Chris Grier would be wise sign JC and pair him with Jones for one season.   I would then suggest that the Dolphins use the extra 2nd round pick that they received from the X trade, to find Byron Jones replacement come 2023.

Jones has been ok, not great.  J.C. has been amazing.  He’s younger than X and when the Dolphins offense starts rolling, JC will be in the prime of his career, thereby matching his skill set to the same time the Dolphins hope to be rolling on O.  Jackson might be a difficult player to sign, as he is the best pure cornerback in free agency.  The Dolphins will have to be aggressive in order to bring him to Miami, but J.C has a great relationship with Josh Boyer from their days in New England, Miami fans can hope that connection could strengthen the possibility.
