Miami Dolphins fans want a big name wide receiver in free agency and they want DeVante Parker traded but a new market price for WRs should end that.

According to reports, the market for free agent wide receivers has been set thanks to the Jacksonville Jaguars and frankly, the Dolphins should consider Parker a steal and any receiver on the market off their boards.

Christian Kirk, formerly of the Cardinals is signing a free agent 4 year deal worth up to $84 million by the Jaguars. Kirk is at best a third tier pass catcher and will now get paid as one of the top receivers in the league. Good for Kirk for sure, but this contract is going to make signing players like JuJu Smith-Schuster or Allen Robinson near impossible.

Earlier today the Browns released Jarvis Landry and many fans would love to see him back in Miami but what will Landry’s asking price be? For all WRs the price is going to go up considerably. It may not match the Kirk contract but it won’t be a cap friendly one either. Not anymore.

The Dolphins have DeVante Parker who will count less than $10 million this year and is under contract for the next two seasons. He will make a little over $8 million this year and a little over $9 million in 2023. Suddenly, Parker is a value.

It is unclear if the Dolphins were going to try and boost their wide receivers group through free agency. Many believed they would try and upgrade the position that underperformed last year. That could still be the plan but it just got a lot more expensive, potentially.

The market for receivers is typically high in demand but there has always been a typical tier to spending across the NFL, that is now starting to change and the Jaguars just made other WRs stand up and take notice. For the Dolphins, it might be a good idea to focus on the draft to bolster the position.
