Offensive Line

Current

OT Austin Jackson – Has largely struggled through his first two seasons. The former 15th-overall pick, does have a lot of the qualities coveted by his new Head Coach. Look for Jackson to get the development, and veteran mentorship he’s been missing

OT Liam Eichenburg – The Dolphins traded up for Liam in the second-round of last years draft. Touted for being a technician, out of the highly-regarded Norte Dame program, we never really saw that materialize last season. That could be due to the coaching-staff moving him around the line continuously, in his rookie season. He’s another player that should benefit from stability, and solid coaching.

OG Robert Hunt – The best player on the Dolphin’s line last year. Hunt has a lot of potential to continue developing into a long-term solution on the 0-line.

C/OG Michael Deiter – Deiter was the team’s starting Center last season. He did miss time due to injury, but that hasn’t been an issue for him, otherwise. Has played Guard, as well.

OG Solomon Kindley – Benched last season, likely as a result of falling out of (former) HC Brian Flores’ favor. Kindley showed up to camp overweight, and never seemed to find his footing, last year. He’s a better pass-blocker, than run.

OT/OG/C Robert Jones – Undrafted Free-Agent. Finally saw game-action late last year, and performed admirably. Has worked at Center, in his free-time ,to try and put himself in positions of opportunity.

OT Larnel Coleman – 7th-round pick by the Dolphins, last year. Spent the year on Injured-Reserve.

Additions

OT Terron Armstead (Saints) – 3 YR, $60 million ($43.75 guaranteed, two voidable years at the back-end, back-loaded, 1st-year is a $13.25 million cap-hit). Largely concerned over Armstead’s injury history (he’s never played a full-season), he’s still a top-3 Left Tackle in the NFL. Armstead will fill a major hole for the Miami Dolphins. He does have some of those sneaky-skills that Mike McDaniel likes to play with.

OG Laken Tomlinson (49ers) – 3 YR, $31.5 ($19.5 gtd, back-loaded, $9 million in 1st-YR). McDaniel will be very happy to have his Pro-Bowl guard from last year. Tomlinson will be a crucial part of the run-game, and will be a great veteran-mentor.

OT/OG Tom Compton (49ers) – 1 YR, $3.5 million ($3 gtd). Another 49er finds their way to Miami. Compton, a 33-year old veteran, filled in at RT for the Niners last year, and was a huge part of that team’s rushing success.

C Matt Paradis (Panthers) – 1 YR, $3.5 millions (fully guarenteed). Rather than spending big on a free-agent Center, that’s already seen Ryan Jensen return to Tampa Bay, they get a solid veteran that possesses the necessary run-blocking skills. Will serve as a stop-gap. Missed time last year with injury.
