Grading the Miami Dolphins first day of fake free agency
By Matt Serniak
Grade: B
I’m going with a meaty B here for Keion Crossen mainly because I never heard of him. Seems like a wonderful fella.
My spidey sense tells me that Clayton Fejedelem’s days are numbered. Oh well. When we signed him we all thought and hope he could have been a diamond in the rough. Turns out, he was just as good as he was in Cincinnatti which is to say he was average at best.
Keion can come in and join the 100 man army that is the Miami Dolphin’s secondary while being the special teams ace that I read he is.
The cynic in me is hoping that this doesn’t mean the end for Mack Hollins the real special teams ace on this team. I really like Mack’s game when he is in a receiver. He loves doing the dirty work and is good for a big catch or two every three games all while being a force on special teams. Plus, if Hollins wasn’t here who else is going to be confused for Mike Gesicki? See, Hollins has value all over this team.
I do pause and wonder what it would be like if the Dolphins employed a couple of bullets(that’s pocket aces for my non-Rounders out there) on one special team’s unit? Might be the greatest coverage team ever. Okay, I like the potential of this signing.
The Dolphins still have a good amount of cap space left and they haven’t addressed their biggest weakness, which is their offensive line. You have to think that Terron Armstead or La’el Collins has to be in the Dolphin’s plans for tomorrow. I’m saying you have to think that because I want to say one of those guys better be in their plans. If Miami doesn’t address their offensive line with really good players and instead go to the clearance rack then Dolphins Twitter may riot. I expect the Dolphins to address the offensive line forcefully.
Overall, the Dolphins did a solid job of adding quality depth with mostly good ceilings. Let’s hope this continues on day two of fake free agency. Enjoy your Tuesday.
