3 players the Miami Dolphins could have drafted over Noah Igbinoghene
D’Andre Swift
It may not be as overly egregious as passing on a prospect like Jonathan Taylor, but the Dolphins would probably like to have D’Andre Swift in their backfield rather than having Noah Igbinoghene on their bench.
Swift’s college career differed from that of Taylor in that he didn’t put up the gaudy numbers, but that was mostly due to the fact that he was always a part of a dual threat backfield at the University of Georgia. But he was a highly touted prospect who played against some of the best defenses in the country and fared well against them. His ability to catch balls out of the backfield made a huge difference as well, as Swift was actually chosen six spots ahead of Taylor.
He has never been the feature back for the Lions, though his snap percentage rose from 47 to 67 percent between his first and second seasons. He is one of the better pass catching running backs in the league, and would have certainly been Miami’s starter last season over Myles Gaskin. Smith has only started eight games in his career, but has scored 17 touchdowns over his first two seasons in the league.
