3 players the Miami Dolphins should consider with the #102 pick
By Matt Serniak
Part area of need, part excellent football player is why I would be smitten with the Dolphins selecting Channing Tindall in 3rd round. I really don’t think he lasts until that far in the 3rd round but a man can dream.
Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Travon Walker, and Derion Kendrick get the majority of the publicity when Georgia’s defense gets brought up. But Channing Tindall did his thing and he did it well for the Bull Dogs. He was kind of one of those unsung guys that did his job quietly but it made a huge difference in Georgia winning the national title.
Tindall is a traditional inside linebacker. His dimensions are 6’2 230LBs. But this guy can fly for his size. He ran a 4.47 in the 40 at the combine. I know that’s what many modern NFL inside linebackers are starting to run but dang that’s faster than most guys in the NFL regardless of position. With that time, Tindall ran the 3rd fastest time among linebackers at the combine. Tindall’s speed reminds me of Boss Bailey’s speed Madden which, to me, still resonates with me after all these years.
With that speed, Tindall can cover backs out of the backfield, chase down outside runs, and spy quarterbacks that have the ability to take off. I think there’s a QB in the division that’s pretty good at that so that seems like a good skill to have.
Watching this guy in games that I saw it seemed he has an instant explosion quality to him that I love. He has an innate sense of how to knife in through an offensive line and take down the quarterback.
Hope he’s there at #102 but I’m not counting on it. Just hoping for it.
