Three reasons why J.C. Tretter to the Miami Dolphins makes sense

If Miami is able to lure in Tretter it gives the Dolphins offensive line a ton of flexibility. It will give the Dolphins a total of nine guys who have had started in the NFL in 2021 and would be one of the deeper lines in the league. The biggest of those pieces being the two young tackles in Austin Jackson and Liam Eichenberg. While we don’t quite know what Jackson or Eichenberg will be under the new offensive staff, Jackson or Eichenberg could potentially be good fits at right tackle.

However, the biggest unknown remains to be where Robert Hunt will play. After his commendable play at right guard would it make sense to leave him there to continue to get better? Or do the Dolphins feel more confident with him at right tackle and sticking a guy like Jackson, Eichenberg, or Michael Dieter at right guard.

I think the right fit for right guard will be Robert Hunt, and the scheme fit makes a ton of sense for the right tackle to in turn be Austin Jackson. Jackson has shown flashes of being able to get to the next level and be an effective run-blocker, and his agility gives him a great chance to be a very good puller in the Mike McDaniel run-blocking scheme. I am also one of the people who doesn’t want to give up on Jackson yet simply because the previous staff didn’t have the right pieces in place around him to help him be successful.

Everyone knows the saying “players become better when they are surrounded by great players”, well that will ring true this season, with Terron Armstead on the opposite side of him. Armstead can be not only a great mentor for Jackson, but also keep him accountable for everything.
