#1: 2021

1-6: Jaylen Waddle – WR – Alabama
1-18: Jaelan Phillips  – EDGE – Miami
2-36: Jevon Holland – S – Oregon
2-42: Liam Eichenberg – OL – Notre Dame
3-81: Hunter Long – TE – Boston College
7-231: Larnel Coleman – T – UMASS
7-244: Gerrid Doaks – RB – Cincinnati

Is it too early to be making the call on this one? The most recent rookie class has wrapped up their first season, and it looks as though Grier and company have found a couple of potential franchise cornerstones. Both sides of the ball were addressed in the 2021 Draft, and all three players that were selected in the top-35 look like they’ll be long-time contributors for the Dolphins for the foreseeable future.

Things got a bit rough later in the second and in to the third round, when Miami selected Eichenberg and Long. The latter has been buried on the depth chart and is often inactive, while Eichenberg seems to be getting beat more off of the edge lately than any other Dolphins’ offensive lineman. But there is hope for both, as the new coaching staff will look to maximize the abilities of everyone on the offensive depth chart.

While the last few picks are nothing to write home about, the immediate production from the first three is enough to overshadow the shortcomings.
