Los Angeles Chargers

Fairly or unfairly, the NFL Draft links certain players to each other for the duration of their careers. Such is (and will be) the case for Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert.

The majority consensus was that the Miami Dolphins made the correct choice with the 5th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. But after the first two seasons of their careers, it is clear that Herbert has the strong edge over Tua. The Oregon product has quickly become one of the top-tier passers in the league, and his Chargers will look to make some noise in a stacked AFC West this season.

Tagovailoa has a lot riding on his shoulders in 2022, and much of it is the need to prove that he is the quarterback that can turn the Dolphins in to contenders. His early career numbers in the win column are impressive, but Tua is regularly outplayed on the stat sheet by his quarterback counterparts. He will have to show that he can out-duel some of his peers, and the game against the Chargers could be a great opportunity to do just that.
