The Miami Dolphins didn’t need to make big moves at safety because they are solid with talent.

The future at the safety position for the Miami Dolphins is exciting. Brandon Jones is still developing and Jevon Holland is bordering on the edge of stardom, outside of Miami. His rookie season was turning NFL heads.

Current roster

  • Clayton Fejedelem
  • Jevon Holland
  • Eric Rowe
  • Sheldrick Redwine
  • Brandon Jones

To be honest, I don’t see the Dolphins making any releases from the safety position. Traditionally, the Dolphins would carry four and if they do that again this year, I would suspect that Redwine would be gone. Miami gave him a non-guaranteed contract and it will be hard for him to make the roster but he is a prime candidate for the practice squad.

Fejedelem is the one I will be watching the most. He has the higher salary for a special teams player and doesn’t contribute a whole lot on defense, that being said, he has value to the team as a ST ace and with Crossen, the ST unit is much improved.

The Miami Dolphins will need to add a punter to their roster and they don’t seem to be in a big hurry to do so.

The Miami Dolphins will have three special teams players that will make the 2022 roster. We know that Jason Sanders will be one of them and barring any surprises, Blake Ferguson should have the long snapper duties under his belt for another season.

The biggest question entering this off-season will be the punter position. Miami has yet to sign a punter to the roster and while fans quip that the Dolphins new offense won’t need to punt, they will need a punter.

Some speculate that the Dolphins may use a draft pick on a punter and there is one, San Diego State’s Matt Araiza who is drawing a lot of interest from the fans. Araiza has a big leg but the Dolphins may not be in a position to draft him. The 3rd round might be too high for the Dolphins. They still have a selection in round four but will they use it on a punter? They might have to.

We still know that three players will take up roster spots so we will finalize our roster with Sanders, Ferguson, and the unknown punter. And with that, we are at a final roster of 53.
